Whilst restoring the library in her husband's family home in Wensleydale, Janet came across a diary by Silvanus Thompson recounting an excursion by five botanists into Teesdale in 1844. Their story includes rivalry and romance as they walk part of the Pennine Way.

On some areas of limestone pavement in the Yorkshire Dales, large upright slabs can be seen. This report details an archaeological survey which aimed to provide an explanation of when, and why, people set these ‘placed stones’ in position. Softback, 54 pages.

Southerscales: a deserted settlement

A fascinating report about a community archaeology project supported by YDMT to answer long-standing doubts about the age of the intriguing settlement of Southscales, a few miles north east of Ingleton. Softback, 180 pages.

In 2018/19 YDMT supported a project to determine the felling dates of a number of re-used timbers in old stone field barns in the Ingleborough area. This report summarises the project and its surprising results. Softback, 99 pages.

This archaeological investigation of an early medieval farmstead is the last bit of the jigsaw in a ten-year research project around Ingleborough. This report details the work of volunteers to excavate a small site at Clapham Bottoms, and findings that are out of all proportion to its  hitherto perceived importance. Paperback, 74 pages.

Thorns through Time: The story of an abandoned settlement. The fascinating story of Thorns, near Ribblehead, as revealed by archaeological investigations.
